Alien vs Predator

obviously the buzz for this is huge. I'm thinking it's going to do Freddy vs Jason business, but no way do they fuck up the line like they did for that movie. I also think the initial excitement for this movie has died down a bit, partly because of the pg-13 rating, and partly because taking a closer look at the trailer reveals a possibly lack-luster movie. It looks a little cheesy for my tastes. But it is based off of a video game, so what do you expect. I don't know, 33 million?

This movie does look cheesy. Very cheesy. Is it curious buzz, or go see movie buzz? Hmm. PG-13 is the wrong move... 30 mil sounds about right.

How is the buzz looking?

pretty good, maybe a little less than for Freddy vs Jason. the HSX price has been slowly dropping, so people are starting to lose faith. People like myself, who saw Freddy VS Jason with no qualms, might be second-guessing this movie after some of the negative buzz lately. Like it not screening for the critics, suposedly because it wasn't finished in time, the PG-13 rating, when it was origionally supposed to be R but they cut it down for some reason... I don't know personally I'm not that excited to see it, but, a lot of people still are I'm sure. I'm not sure what to think, it could do better than FvsJ, or worse, I'm kinda at a loss here. I'd guess that the tracking is going to be pretty damn good, and if I was WSEX I'd raise the line a bit for insurance.

the stock just fell another 3 bucks. I don't know, people might be reading too much into the negative publicity. Most people were hooked in by the first preview they saw and won't care that it wasn't screened for critics, which is usually a very bad sign. Or will they? #3 now on moviefone... could be higher.

both Lee and BOR predict 29 million. I'm a little bit surprised they don't think it will cross 30... And don't give me the Olympics line, Gil, I know what you're thinking! AVP fans generally don't give a shit about the Olympics, right? This ones going to be tough, at first it was a sure-fire over, now all the ???'s are popping up.
